Spellings
Spelling tests will take place in school every Friday.
Each week, as part of the students home learning, children are expected to learn their spellings. They need to write each spelling three times and a sentence with the word in. Please underline the spelling word in each sentence.
For example:
witch witch witch
I was very scared of the witch in the story by Roald Dahl.
Home learning spelling books are expected to be handed in no later than a Monday morning. This is when the sentences from the previous spelling test will be marked. This will allow children to have their spelling books over a weekend, when they may want to start the next weeks spellings . Though spelling homework will be handed in after the test, it is vital your child writes their sentences before the test each week, as this forms part of their practice.
Spelling words can be found bellow. Year 3 children are in two different groups, Dragonflies and Butterflies. Under the group Dragonflies or Butterflies, the spellings for the term can be found. Each weekly set of spellings are under a different star, titled by the date of the spelling test.
If your child would like to practise their spellings on Spelling Shed they may. This is a choice and is extra, they will still be expected to write their spellings out as above. Spellings will go live on Spelling Shed each Friday for the following week. Logins can be found in the front of their home learning log.
