“Widmer End is the best because all the lessons are really fun and also the staff are the kindest ever.” Mia - pupil
from our Headteacher At Widmer End, there is something special that many families notice from the moment they arrive. It is a warmth, a sense of belonging, and a feeling that this is a place where children are genuinely known and cared for. This comes not only from our close-knit community, but from the values that sit at the heart of everything we do: unity, trust, respect, kindness, curiosity and courage. These values shape our daily life and help create an environment where every child feels supported and inspired. We believe deeply that education is about nurturing the whole child - supporting their wellbeing, celebrating who they are, and helping them to flourish both academically and personally. Every child who joins us is encouraged to grow in confidence, to discover their strengths and interests, and to take pride in their achievements - whatever they may be. At Widmer End, we celebrate individuality and gently guide our children to become resilient, kind and independent young people. Through our shared values, we help them to develop the confidence and character they need to embrace opportunities, face challenges with courage, and show curiosity about the world around them. Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important and often most emotional decisions you will make as a parent. As a parent myself, I understand that, more than anything, you want your child to feel happy, safe and truly valued, while being given every opportunity to grow and succeed. I warmly invite you to visit us, to see our school in action, and to experience for yourself what makes Widmer End such a unique place to learn and grow. It would be a privilege to welcome you and your family, and to share with you all that makes our school so very special. kindness curiosity respect unity courage trust
Why Widmer End? Widmer End Community Combined School is a oneform entry primary school, set in the heart of the village of Widmer End. Built in 1974, we recently held our Golden Jubilee in celebration of 50 years of educating the children of Widmer End and the surrounding area. Catering for children as young as aged 2 in our Pre-School, children leave us in Year 6 as happy and successful citizens of our community. We pride ourselves in not only supporting children to achieve academic excellence, but also to become valued members of society, living all our school values - Unity, Trust, Courage,Curiosity, Respect and Kindness - for their entire lives. As a Rights Respecting School, children learn about their own rights and the rights of children around the world, developing respect, empathy and a strong sense of justice. Through our use of the Skills Builder programme, we also equip pupils with essential life skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving, preparing them to thrive both in school and beyond. www.widmerend.bucks.sch.uk “Pupils feel safe and secure because nurturing staff work closely together as a dedicated team.” Ofsted 2023
Being a small village school, we know all our children as individuals. Our staff team are unrivalled in their dedication and commitment to their jobs and we all work together every week to provide teaching and learning opportunities to match all needs and abilities. Our full-time pastoral lead also supports all of our families and children with their emotional wellbeing. The children at Widmer End are amazing. They are confident and motivated learners whose enthusiasm is palpable as you walk into the building. Children are given a range of responsibilities in school which are integral to how our school is run. Pupil voice is very important to us; therefore, roles such as School Councillor, Ambassadors and Junior Road Safety Officers are chosen by other pupils during Democracy Week, ready for the year ahead. Set in generous grounds with a large playground and field, we are able to provide a range of outdoor activities, such as Forest School, in addition to our broad and rich curriculum inside the classroom.
