| Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important and often most emotional decisions you will make as a parent. As a parent myself, I understand that, more than anything, you want your child to feel happy, safe and truly valued, while being given every opportunity to grow and succeed. |

| Why |
6 |
| Widmer End? |
6 |
| Widmer End Community Combined School is a one-form entry primary school, set in the heart of the village of Widmer End. Built in 1974, we recently held our Golden Jubilee in celebration of 50 years of educating the children of Widmer End and the surrounding area. |
6 |
| Catering for children as young as aged 2 in our Pre-School, children leave us in Year 6 as happy and successful citizens of our community. We pride ourselves in not only supporting children to achieve academic excellence, but also to become valued members of society, living all our school values - Unity, Trust, Courage,Curiosity, Respect and Kindness - for their entire lives. |
6 |
| As a Rights Respecting School, children learn about their own rights and the rights of children around the world, developing respect, empathy and a strong sense of justice. Through our use of the Skills Builder programme, we also equip pupils with essential life skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving, preparing them to thrive both in school and beyond. |
6 |
| “There is a strong focus on making sure that pupils learn about healthy lifestyles.” |
7 |
| “Widmer End is the best place ever to learn; we have very lovely teachers and lessons!” |
8 |
| “Leaders promote pupils’ personal development well.” |

| Academic Success |
10 |
| Success at Widmer End begins in our Early Years, where children are nurtured from the very start of their learning journey. |
10 |
| Our passionate Early Years Lead carefully plans and coordinates an inspiring, child-centred curriculum that responds to the interests, needs and stages of development of every child across Pre-School and Reception. |
10 |
| Through purposeful play, rich language experiences and high-quality interactions, children build secure foundations in confidence, communication and early learning skills. This strong start ensures pupils are well-prepared to build on their learning throughout the school. |

| Supporting Every Child |
14 |
| To Thrive |
14 |
| We are proud to have a full-time pastoral lead who works closely with children and families to support emotional wellbeing and social development. |
14 |
| As a trained ELSA practitioner, the pastoral lead provides targeted support for pupils and coordinates external agencies, including the Mental Health Support Team and the School Nursing Team, while working in close partnership with the SENDCo to ensure a joined-up, personalised approach. |
14 |
| Our Mulberry curriculum further develops key skills in wellbeing and personal growth, helping children to understand themselves and others. This is complemented by our peer mentor programme, where pupils support one another to build resilience. |
14 |
| Our dedicated provision for Young Carers also ensures that every child feels supported, valued and is able to thrive. |
14 |
| “The school strives to ensure every child feels safe, confident, and motivated to reach their full potential.” |

16 |
| Creativity |
16 |
| We unleash creativity and expression by giving children opportunities to experience a wide range of artistic and cultural activities, including Indian dance lessons, street dance and peripatetic music tuition. |
16 |
| Pupils can take part in Rocksteady band sessions and benefit from whole-class music lessons delivered by specialist teachers from the Bucks Music Trust. |
16 |
| Our incredibly talented school choir has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena, numerous community events and the local residential home. |
16 |
| Termly class assemblies and annual Year 6 productions provide valuable drama opportunities, while dedicated Art days, working with local artists, allow children to explore and use their imagination in creative ways. |
16 |
| “The highlight of the term is watching the children perform - a fantastic showcase of their creativity and hard work.” |

| Beyond The Classroom |
22 |
| We place great importance on children developing an understanding of their place in our world and life beyond Widmer End and their classrooms. |
22 |
| Alongside participation in a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, we enrich learning through carefully planned school trips and visits to a variety of destinations, including museums, farms, places of worship and castles, with at least one trip per year group each term. We also host interactive and engaging history workshops on site, bringing learning to life in meaningful ways. |
